Contemporary Artist / Illustrator

「A Life Without Reality」

Shoko Hirose

Contemporary Artist / Illustrator

Graduated from the Oil Painting Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018.

Working under the concept of “A Life Without Reality,” Hirose explores contemporary perception in which the boundaries between information and materiality, fiction and reality have become increasingly ambiguous.

By transferring digital imagery onto canvas and acrylic supports, then layering oil paint, resin, and semi-sculptural structures, she transforms digital information into physical form. Through the coexistence of information, traditional painting materials, and physical objects within a single picture plane, her works present new modes of visual experience for the digital age.

Alongside her contemporary art practice, Hirose also works internationally under the name “Hirose” as a commercial illustrator, producing artwork for video games, light novels, and Hatsune Miku-related projects. Moving between fine art and commercial illustration, she continues to explore the nature of images in contemporary society.
